It was my first time to visit Singapore and I can honestly say that I loved it there. The place is clean, REALLY clean. You'll never see garbage scattered on the street. From what I've heard, chewing gums are prohibited in Singapore, which probably explains why no ones selling them in convenience stores. Besides the place being clean, there are also a lot things that makes one's life convenient.

Stop signs have digital counters that display how much time there is left before the lights will change

All cabs have small lcd monitors that displays various information like what time you entered the cab, the fare, the name of the driver, customers who are waiting to be picked up, schedules of pick-up etc

The buildings are inter-connected by underground walkways which also leads to the subway system that is so convenient for travelling around the country

Subway tickets are proximity cards that require non-contact to the card readers - a staple for entry-exit in subway systems

Singapore is indeed very strict in implement and enforcing the law. They enforce strict road laws and regulations. A local told us that driver is only allowed a minimal number of violations given a period of time. If you exceed that number, you're license will either be suspended or revoked depending on the frequency of violations and you will have a hard time getting another.

The Journey - Year 3

Exactly 2 years ago, I was very excited for my first day at work. My first work that is. I was this college graduate who is very eager to venture into the IT corporate world. Then the rest is history......

Two years has passed (that was fast). Here I am, wondering. Was my stay in the company worth it? I can't help but ask myself. Am I really happy here? Is this the job that I really wanted? Questions like that are inevitable.... and at one point or the other, one must make a decision.

Tomorrow will be the start of my 3rd year in the IT corporate world. I wonder what things are in store for me. I hope for the best.

Just a quick blog..

Woah, mylast blog was on April! Yey! But on second thought, I that doesn't feel right. This ain't no "time flies when you're having fun" week. This past four days were like "oh shit! it's time to go home now and I haven't done anything yet". Simply put, I'm just not productive this past few days. And honestly, it has been like this for over a month now...as if I have a choice. I barely get much work assignments at all. It's not good I tell you. I don't feel like explaining but trust me, it's bad! Sometimes I feel its better that way. I heard terrible news as of late.

A fire incident lasted for more than 12 hours yesterday. It's so sad that the entire family (except the eldest son who got married and moved out) was trapped inside the burning building. Only a miracle could have saved them.

Another sad news from yesterday was the passing away of one of my dearest friend's dad. =( Though I haven't met her dad, I feel sorry for her loss. Its hard to lose one's dad.

I'll pray for them.

We live in a real world, so we must accept whatever hardships life may bring us. Many things are inevitable. We must not forget the memories or the lessons that they left us. A friend once said, being forgotten is worse than death. Grieve if you need to grieve. But after that, move on and live life to the fullest.

The Return of the Blogger: Episode 2

Its only mid-summer and its raining. =( I just hope it won't rain too often or else our summer outing will be ruined. The beach, the sand, the corals were great though. But the accomodations where not that good but it was bearable. That's what you'll get for being cheap. LOL! The explanation is, first, I was having the Blog Paradox. Second, I was busy with my research. Third, I was playing Gunbound. Yeah yeah, "busy with research" and I find time to play LOL! How ironic isn't it? Well you need to start practicing multitasking. =D Fourth, I got work too you know. If you may not know, I'm one of the millions of people who work infront of their computer desk for a majority of the day. And last but the not least, I was on vacation! Woohoo!!!

I'm having the Blog Paradox more often than ever. What caught my attention was his acceptance speech. He said something like nothing in this world is promised except death - so true! And he continued saying something like siezing the moment coz we might regret not doing it later on. I know how that feels. I have a lot of those "what if I did that" moments. I need to get over that someday.

As for him winning that grammy, hel said he'll be partying whole night long or maybe weeks long. His speech is one of a kind. And it's nice to be reminded once in a while. Something you won't hear often in acceptance speeches. A while ago, I came home from work then suddenly, I was informed that there had been bombings in Makati. So I switched on the TV and there I saw news reports of bombings (yes, with an S!) It seems that there were actually 3 simultaneous bombings. One in Makati, one in Davao and one Gen Santos. Happy Valentine turned Bloody Valentine. *sigh*

Today is supposed to be a day of love-giving (or love-making to some =D). As for me, since I haven't found my S.O. yet... *yoohooo! paging cupid* I can just spend the night watching the 47th Grammy Awards and that'll be..... *in a very sarcastic tone* reeeeaaally fun! =P Kidding aside, I'm really rooting for the song If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys and The Reason by Hoobastank. I just can't get enough of them. edit: Alicia Keys won several grammys. Hoobastank zero.

Isn't it amazing that during Valentine's Day, prices tend to skyrocket? The prices of roses go two-fold, sometimes even more. Not to mention the already horrible traffic jams, they just keep on getting worse by the minute. But let's face it, getting through all this trouble is definitely one way to impress yung S.O. =) (or am I wrong?)

With the love and fear surrounding today's events, it got me thinking... about loving... about fear of rejection...

Happy Valentine's Day!

The Blog Paradox

Why is it that when I'm not infront of my computer, doing something else or just staring at a blank wall, I have a lot of things that I want to share (mind the word, its share and not post) in my half-nonsense blog? There have been countless times that I just stare blankly at the notepad here in blogger.com. As in no idea of what to post, no topic, uninspired... nothing! I'm like hitting the back space key twice as much as the alphabet keys. My mind is just go blank. I often ended up clicking the Sign Out link. That explains why I rarely post anything.

I know I'm a thinker coz I tend to think about a lot of things during the entire day, especially if I can't sleep at night or just aint that sleepy. That's when I'm all alone, in bed, my head resting on my hand, laying squarely on my back and staring at the ceiling. I like to reminisce.... I think about the happy moments, as well as the sad moments in my life. Wonder about my friends who I lost touch with and hope they're doing ok. I think about life in general. Like have I been good or bad lately or what do I really want to do in life? Those sort of stuffs..... which sometimes led me to believe that: (*Ok, repeat after me*) Life is cruel and I am bitter. (sorry! crankiness is starting to act up again) But I really do feel that way sometimes, don't ask me why coz I know you do too.

Good thing tomorrow's gonna be a brand new day and we can hope for the best.

Bored and Blogging

It's been a while since I posted anything here. But who cares about what I post here? Who cares to read about the blog of the suckiest blogger in the world? My sentence structure sucks and I rely on MS Word to catch my grammatical errors, not to mention spelling errors too. And most of all, the flow of ideas is just wrong! Wait a minute, why am I writing this down? As if anyone would read this? Oh yeah, I forgot, there's that neat "Next Blog" button at the upper right that I sometimes use to spy on other blogs (and also copy their neat blog tricks =P) Someone could randomly (or unfortunately) load my blog bwahahaha!

Ok... It can even beat the crap out of the Top #1 and 2 killers in the world. The lead actor's Buddha's Palm is also awesome. Though Lion's Roar is not as powerful as Buddha's Palm, it's visualization is more entertaining. There's this one fight scene that looked like the Neo-Mr. Smith back alley fight scene. That is when the Stephen Chow finally realized that he has the power (He's The One!) to kick-ass and he was mobbed by axe gang henchmen dressed in coat and tie.

This movie is right now on the top of my list for the best movie of the year. This ain't your ordinary "dialogue-not-matching-the-actor's-mouth-kung-fu" movie. Heck its not even dubbed in English LOL! This is like Shaolin Soccer (if you haven't watched this, watch it!) + Matrix + Spiderman. I included Spidermen coz there's this dialogue, "With great powers, comes great responsibility" speech by one of the Kung-Fu Master. Oh, I almost forgot, you gotta see the Axe Gang Dance! LOL!

Ok now, I watched Ocean's 12 the 2nd time last Sunday! I really really really felt sleepy while watching it. We had the usual conversation, teasing and joking. After dinner, our manager asked the waiter to clear the table so that we can have our booze. I do not usually drink beers or wines or any alcholic beverages coz I tend to look like a tomato after a couple of sips. Then our manager said the magic words, "the drinks are on me". So there yah go! San Mig Light, Red Horse Beer and Vodka Ice.

At first, I didn't order any booze. But after eyeing that Vodka Ice, I felt the urge. The bottle is just so tempting (LOL, I'm starting to sound like an alcoholic) So I had a "teaser", half a glass that is. Funny, it didn't taste like any alcoholic beverage that I've taken before. It tasted like Sprite plus some cherry sparkle or something. And the best part is, my face didn't turn into a tomato! So I ended up having a bottle. After emptying one, I felt the I'd like another but a bottle and a half is good enough.

P.S. Don't drink and drive. Please also be considerate for others on the road.

LAUNCHcast Now!

This I believe is the next best thing after IM and emails. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. They both didn't live up to my expectations. Ocean's 12 wasn't as exciting as the Ocean's 11. For the whole duration of the movie, I was watching out for signs of the "big twist". There wasn't any twist until the last part. It was just revealed at the final 10 mins of the movie. Also, the last scene where they all (plus Catherine who came with Brad) met in a gambling room was lame. I didn't see any relevance in showing that besides showing that Brad and Catherine are together which was already shown when Brad took Catherine to meet his father, the alleged greatest thief in the world.

Do I still have to talk about Blade Trinity? (or maybe how it sucked?) In my opinion, Blade 2 is way better than Blade Trinity. Blade Trinity had the most common plot in an action movie. Bad guy does bad things, in this case the first ever vampire named Drake, then the good guy (Blade) kills the bad guy in the end. And oh, Trinity? You mean the two human sidekicks of Blade? I can't believe they're pretty strong! They can even go head to head with a vampire and take that much beating. Triple H was in the movie by the way. Which made one fight scene looked like a wrestling match LOL!

Rumor says that Wesley Snipes didn't even want to endorse this film. Now I know why. I should have watched Kung Fu Hustle also. It was funny according to my friends. Maybe next weekend. I'm also waiting for Meet the Fockers.

Happy New Year!

Just want to greet everyone a Happy New Year! (how can I forget to include that haha)

FYI, 2005 is the year of the rooster.

The Big Blah Blog

Last day of 2004! This is definitely one great illusion! One morning last month, I got a video attached to an email. I was occupied with another thing at that time, so I just downloaded it to my storage folder then deleted the email afterwards. After a while, I got bored so I opened it and 'lo and behold! I was amazed at the video. The video showed a cool optical illusion of a dragon. The dragon seemed to be alive because it was following the camera's movement. Until later in the video, the one shooting the video revealed that its just a piece of oddly-folded paper to produce the illusion. See it for yourself. Here's the video.

I tried to make my own Gardner, the name of the dragon. I search the web and I got the template. I got it on this site.

I assure you its not a waste of time! (unless it took you more than 30 mins to finish it LOL) Its fun making it. Its kinda like creating origamis.

Enjoy!

2 days before 2005

New Year Countdown

Today is the 28th of December, three more days till New Year's Eve. Are you ready to say goodbye to 2004? Have you started listing down your New Year’s resolution? Or are you still going to use your last year's New Year’s resolution? Coz most people I know, recycle them.

But honestly, I don't think they're really effective. If you really want to change, then you'd do it now. Don't wait for the New Year. The spirit of the holiday (Christmas and New Year) doesn't last long anyway and you'd probably forget your resolutions come mid-January, unless you really are a dedicated person which I doubt. =)

I understand that habits are really hard to break. Just try asking a smoker to quit. I don't smoke by the way. I just don't get it what smokers get out of inhaling smoke. I guess that one have to be a smoker to understand that.

You may have heard this a zillion times: Change is permanent. We cannot do anything about that. But its up to us if we would change for the better or, hope not, for the worse. blah..blah...blah....

The time is ticking.... 3 days to go till 2005.

Chrismukkah

Another day... another time to blog. (as if I blog everyday hahaha =P)

Christmas (or Chrismukkah, as Seth calls it from the O.C.) is here once again. It is the time of year when people flock to the malls/bazaars to buy gifts, hence, the longgggggg queue lines at the counter and... the horrible holiday traffic jams. Btw, I'm not complaining. I'm used to it. Its even a good thing that people still find time to get away from their busy schedule to buy gifts. Which reminds me, where are my gifts ? =)

You may probably have searched the word Chrismukkah in Google right? Am I right or am I right? Well, if not, it was popularized by the hit TV-show The O.C. by one of it's actor, Seth. According to him, Chrismukkah came from the combination of Christmas and Hanukkah. Furthermore, Chrismukkah is celebrated by intermarried couples, interfaith families with both Jewish and Christian members, people with partial Jewish heritage... or anyone who just feels like it. If you want to read more about it (I suggest not, coz its quite boring but you may browse through some O.C. stuffs, gossips and what not)... here's the link.

My First Blog...

Before anything else..... Welcome to The Big Blah Blog
Finally...!
